Hello, Hola, Salut!
Just a little background information about this site. I was a Spanish Language and Culture teacher for forty years and for me everything is cultural - what we do, what we eat, and naturally what we drink. So, we are going to explore the world from the comfort of our homes, and learn about other peoples, lands, and languages ... all around the topic of wine!
My Story
This website came about... after years of teaching and traveling. In college I spent a year studying in Madrid ... where I had my first glass of red wine - un chato de vino tinto (a shot of red wine) - probably a Tempranillo. Anyway, as mentioned, I taught Spanish for forty years and towards the end I was a consultant for the College Board - teaching and mentoring other Spanish teachers AP Spanish Language and Culture. The last unit that I put together was a four day workshop, called La Comida es Cultura (Food is Culture). Then one cold winter night in Ohio at the beginning of the pandemic, I was watching a wine show on Wine.com ... and it dawned on me that La Bebida es Cultura (Drink is Culture) also. So, since then I have become an amateur oenologist (wine nerd) and have certifications in WSET 1 and 2 in Wines, WSET 1 in Spirits, CMSA - Intro in Wines (Court of Master Sommeliers) and am currently studying for WSET 3 in Wines and the CSW (Certified Specialist in Wine). It's not easy, but it's been fun so far!
